(about 12 hours later)
A man is due in court in County Tyrone charged with rape. A man has been remanded in custody charged with raping a woman in County Tyrone.
It is understood the charges relate to a serious sexual assault in Stewartstown on Sunday. The 20-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also charged with assaulting and causing grievous bodily harm to the woman.
The 20-year-old is also charged with indecent assault, grievous bodily harm and stealing a car. The alleged attack took place in Stewartstown on Sunday.
He will appear in court in Dungannon on Tuesday. A police officer told Dungannon Magistrate's Court that the accused, who is from Argentina, made no reply when the charges were put to him.
The officer said he believed he could connect him to the charges.
The man wept throughout the brief hearing and was flanked by an interpreter and a custody officer.
Questioned by a defence solicitor, the detective confirmed that police were objecting to bail due to concerns that the accused would try to interfere with prosecution witnesses.
He said police were also worried that the man would try to leave the country and he had already told police he wanted to go home.
He was remanded in custody until Wednesday.
