A six-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has been left unable to walk after "heartless" burglars stole her made-to-measure walking frame.

Tyla Anguige, from Bierley, West Yorkshire, is due to undergo surgery to help her walk.

The frame and a wheelchair were in the boot of a BMW stolen from the family's home during the burglary.

West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the theft was discovered by a neighbour on Wednesday morning.

Tyla's mother, Chrissy Jackson, fears the upcoming surgery will not be successful without the use of the frame for her daughter's recovery physiotherapy.

She appealed for the safe return of Tyla's equipment.

Officers have not found the BMW convertible.

Det Insp George Bardell said: "These heartless actions will undoubtedly have caused significant upset and difficulties."

He appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
