The new case confirmed in the Republic of Ireland was the eighth victim of the infection linked to the stores in Lonend and Falside Road.
Dr Ahmed said it was still "early days" so could not yet say whether the outbreak was over.
Staff screening
Officials urged anyone who had consumed cold meat from either store in the past couple of weeks and had suffered stomach cramps or diarrhoea to visit their GP.
Dr Ahmed said it was testament to the "type of intelligence we have across the UK and Ireland" that a further case was identified.
He said that although there was not yet any conclusive evidence, cold cooked meat was still the most likely vehicle of infection.
However, he added that no other food from Morrisons had been implicated.
Dr Ahmed added that extensive samples had been taken from both stores and the lines of the food chain supply were being thoroughly investigated.
Environmental health officers were interviewing Morrisons staff who work on the meat counters and screening of employees was being arranged.
Morrisons said cold meats had been withdrawn from the two stores.
