A carer has admitted stealing cash from a vulnerable man after being caught on a hidden camera.

Lisa Cobane, 32, of Grindleton Avenue, Wythenshawe, pleaded guilty to theft at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Friday.

She was caring for vulnerable former neighbour Malcolm Gill in Stockport when relatives became suspicious money was going missing.

Niece Louise Haig said she asked a specialist company to install a camera, which showed her steal a £20 note.

The footage shows Cobane distracting Mr Gill while pocketing the cash.

'Abuse their trust'

Ms Haig said: "It's just awful to see a member of your family being taken advantage of.

"He would be telephoning my dad and his other brother asking to borrow money when he should have money because it would be within a day or two of him having his pension.

"I think it's absolutely disgusting that somebody could pretend to be somebody's friend, a vulnerable person's friend, in order to abuse them and abuse their trust."

Cobane is due to be sentenced later in February.
