Five people have been hurt, some badly, after a restaurant balcony collapsed, West Yorkshire Police have said. Five people have been seriously injured after a balcony collapsed at a hotel and restaurant in West Yorkshire.
The collapse happened at about 12:00 GMT at the Casa hotel and restaurant in Brighouse. Ambulance crews were called to the Casa hotel and restaurant on Elland Road in Brighouse at about 11:55 GMT, Yorkshire Ambulance Service said.
Some of those injured were believed to be in a serious condition, a police spokesman said. One male was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary while four females were taken by ambulance to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, a spokesman said.
One person was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with head injuries, a spokesman for Yorkshire Air Ambulance said. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Other casualties are believed to have been taken to hospital in Huddersfield by road. Police, fire and ambulance crews remain at the scene.
