Version 0 of 1.

The bodies of 12 servicemen from RAF Kinloss who were among those killed in a Nimrod crash in Afghanistan are to be flown back to their home base in Moray.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it expected the bodies to be repatriated next Tuesday.

The bodies of British military personnel who have been killed abroad are normally brought back to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

A total of 14 men were killed when the Nimrod MR2 came down on Saturday.

The MP for Moray, Angus Robertson, welcomed the decision.

He told BBC Scotland: "This is the correct decision and the right thing to do in these tragic circumstances.

"It is perfectly understandable that the service families in Moray wanted to see the remains of their loved ones returned to RAF Kinloss."

Mr Roberston added: "I am really pleased that the MoD has listened and made the correct decision at this very distressing time."

A four-man board of inquiry will investigate the cause of the Afghanistan crash, which is thought to have been due to a technical fault.

The small Moray community is beginning the healing process, with counselling being offered to both young and old. Relatives have also been paying tribute.
