In "After 30 years of rows over GM, a breakthrough here at last?" (In Focus, 3 February, page 24), we said golden rice – normal rice that has been genetically modified to provide vitamin A to counter blindness and other diseases – will be given to farmers in the Philippines "in a few months". We should clarify that the rice is still undergoing a registration process and may not be released for planting until next year at the earliest.In "After 30 years of rows over GM, a breakthrough here at last?"
