Duane Buck was sentenced to death in 1997 for the double murder of his former girlfriend and a man. At the sentencing hearing, the jury was told that black offenders posed a greater danger to the public than whites should they ever released from prison – and that testimony is believed to have been crucial in persuading the jury to put him on death row.
