A 58-year-old man charged with the hit-and-run death of a 16-year-old girl in Dorset has appeared in court.

Brian Hampton of Shadoxhurst near Ashford, Kent appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court charged over Jade Clark's death

Mr Hampton is accused of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.

Jade, from Ringwood, died when her moped was involved in a crash on the A31 at Ashley Heath, on 24 February.

Mr Hampton, who was remanded in custody, is also charged with three counts of driving while disqualified and three of driving without insurance.

He is due to re-appear before magistrates in Bournemouth, on Monday.

On Friday, about 200 people attended Jade's funeral at Bournemouth Crematorium.

A post-mortem examination showed she died from head injuries.
