Tailbacks have begun at the start of an August Bank Holiday weekend that motoring groups are predicting will be particularly busy on the UK's roads. The start of the August Bank Holiday weekend saw long tailbacks of traffic on several key routes around Britain.

Earlier in the afternoon queues of more than four miles were building on key routes following accidents. Particularly bad delays were reported on the M1 northbound, and on the A4 and A1.
