Pupils at a Swansea primary school formed human "road markings" outside their classrooms to highlight the dangers of parents parking there.

The youngsters at St Helens school were helping to make a road safety poster.

A picture of them dressed in luminous yellow clothing forming zig-zags will be created with the slogan "Would you park on these yellow lines?"

Deputy head teacher Lloyd Jones said the aim was to make parents think twice about ignoring the road markings.

"We want to make St Helens as safe as we can and raise awareness," he said.

"We don't want to upset anyone we just want to make sure the children are safe - I'm sure that the parents will take this on board."

The city's road safety department said many schools complained about parents using no parking zones to drop off their children.

Safety officer Jeff Green said: "The yellow lines painted outside schools are there to prevent cars parking directly outside school gates and help create a safe environment for children who need to cross the road.

"We hope the poster campaign will highlight the issue and make motorists think twice before parking there."
