Army bomb experts are attending a security alert in Londonderry after a suspicious object was found in a car Two men have been arrested following a security operation in Londonderry on Friday night in which a number of weapons were recovered.

Police say the Northland Road is closed and diversions are in place between Seagate and the Springtown Road. Witnesses said they saw two men being laid on the ground, then being dressed in forensic overalls.
Motorists have also been advised to avoid Leckey Road, Rossville Street and the Barrack Street area due to ongoing public disorder. The road was closed overnight, but has since reopened.
At one stage during the alert the media was moved back with reports that a pipe bomb had also been found.
