A 33-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of a man in east Belfast in the early hours of Sunday. Police have released the name of the man murdered in east Belfast in the early hours of Sunday.
Police were called to Chamberlain Street off the Newtownards Road shortly after 01:00 BST, after reports about a man being assaulted in an alleyway. Stanley McAuley, 41, died in hospital after being assaulted in an alleyway at Chamberlain Street off the Lower Newtownards Road.
A 41-year-old man was found unconscious in the alleyway and taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he later died from his injuries. A 33-year-old man is being questioned about the murder.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 01:00 BST where they found Mr McAuley unconscious. He died later in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
