Arrests after man stabbed to death in Scarborough

Two men have been arrested after a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death in Scarborough.

The teenager was attacked near amusement arcades on Foreshore Road at about 23:30 BST on Saturday.

A 17-year-old man was taken to Scarborough District Hospital by ambulance for treatment after he was stabbed in the leg.

The two men who were arrested, both aged in their late teens, remain in custody for questioning, police said.

A cordon has been put in place around the area at St Nicholas Cliff Gardens while police carry out forensic examinations and searches.

Det Ch Insp Keith Ruff, who is leading the investigation for North Yorkshire Police, said: "This is a very tragic incident and we are doing everything we can to establish the full circumstances which led to the death of this young man.

"We are supporting his family at this terrible time and also the other victim and his family."

Officers have appealed for witnesses.
