The body of Fiona Anderson, the children's mother, was discovered nearby at 8am on Monday. Megan Smith, a friend who lived next door, said Anderson had been depressed and had asked social services for help as she feared her children would be taken away. "She was crying out for help because she was depressed, she couldn't cope," said Smith, 19. "She had three kids … pregnant with her fourth – hormones take over. The night before her death Anderson left a series of harrowing messages on Facebook in which she spoke of her hurt about breaking up with McLelland and said she would do anything to protect her children. In one she wrote: "Levina addy kyden evalie. Mummy loves you so much and ill always be there looking after you all. I love you. I'm sorry I let you get hurt. On Tuesday friends and neighbours of the family continued to lay flowers and toys outside Anderson's home in London Road South. As he left the scene McClelland refused to talk to reporters, stopping only to hug his mother in a car park opposite the flat.
