Surrey PC accused of Crawley Tesco shoplifting suspended

A Surrey police constable has been accused of shoplifting following an incident at a supermarket in West Sussex.

PC Roger Toms, 41, who is based in Reigate, has been suspended from duty while court proceedings are under way, Surrey Police said.

He has been charged with theft by Sussex Police and is due to appear before magistrates in Crawley on 9 May.

Police said it followed an incident at Tesco in Crawley earlier in the month.
