http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-22265723 Version 0 of 1. A nurse who has worked for the NHS for 60 years says she has no plans to give up work any time soon. Jackie Reid, 78, from Grays in Essex, started her career in 1953 at Orsett Hospital near Grays. After a two-week retirement aged 65, she went back to Southend Hospital as a bank nurse. "It certainly doesn't feel like 60 years has gone by and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the NHS during that time," she said, Ms Reid, who has two children, works for two different diabetes teams in the south Essex area. "Despite the many changes I have seen, the NHS is still a wonderful organisation that I am proud to be associated with over such a long period of time," she said. Dr Patrick Geoghegan, chief executive of the South Essex Partnership Trust, said: "Jackie is a real inspiration and I am so proud to still be working with her. "The Queen had her Diamond Jubilee recently and it's only fitting that we mark Jackie's diamond jubilee for the NHS in similar fashion." |
