Eight rescued after being stranded at Cramond Island by tide

Eight people and a puppy have been rescued from an island and causeway after becoming stranded by the tide.

A crew from RNLI Queensferry was called to Cramond Island near Edinburgh at 13:40.

Four people and a puppy were stranded on the causeway between the island and the mainland and another four were stuck on the island.

A 28-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

A coastguard spokesman said the three men and five women, including one who was seven months pregnant, and the dog were taken to shore.
