A car bomb has exploded near a school in the Syrian capital, Damascus, with reports of casualties. Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi has survived a car bomb attack in the capital, Damascus, reports say.
The blast, in Mazzeh district in the south-west of the city, is believed to have been a suicide attack. The blast in Mazzeh district targeted Mr Halaqi's convoy, state television said. There are reported to be a number of casualties.
Syria's state news agency Sana said there had been a "terrorist explosion" near Ibn Rushed Park. UK-based activist group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said Mr Halaqi's bodyguard had been killed, AFP news agency reported.
A television channel run by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah says the bomb targeted the Syrian prime minister. It says he survived. Syrian news agency Sana said the explosion hit near Ibn Rushed Park.
