Two in custody after man's death Two in court charged with murder
(about 7 hours later)
Detectives investigating the death of a 20-year-old man in Renfrew on Saturday have arrested two men. Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Renfrew.
Police said James O'Donnell, from Cardonald, was injured in a disturbance outside flats in Brown Street at about 0215 BST. Mark McGartland, 22, described as being of no fixed abode, and Duncan Paterson, 22, of Brown Street, Renfrew, were charged with killing James O'Donnell.
He was taken to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital where he died a short time later. They are alleged to have repeatedly struck the 20-year-old on the body and leg with a knife on 14 October.
Two men, both 22, are in custody. They were expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court. Neither man made any plea or declaration when they appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on petition and both were remanded in custody.
Paterson is also alleged to have assaulted Marina O'Callaghan by repeatedly punching her on the head and body.
