A number of homes in Cookstown, County Tyrone, have been evacuated due to a bomb alert. A pipe bomb has partially exploded under a car in Cookstown, County Tyrone.
The Orritor Road has been closed between the Morganshill Road and the Malloon Road. The device was discovered under the vehicle on the Orritor Road on Saturday afternoon. It has now been removed by the Army.
It follows the discovery of a suspicious object. A number of residents moved from their homes have been allowed to return.
Army bomb disposal experts have been sent to the scene. There are no further details at present. Police have said a motive for the attack has not yet been established, but the vehicle's owner is not believed to have any security forces links.
