Version 0 of 1.

The head of the federal consumer protection agency was fired Wednesday, weeks after his daughter got inspectors to briefly shut down a restaurant that refused her the table she wanted. Four officials from the agency had been suspended after the episode became a Twitter sensation highlighting the deep sense of entitlement of the privileged in Mexico. The father, Humberto Benítez Treviño, had defied calls to resign, but President Enrique Peña Nieto, who had promised more accountability from his government, decided to fire him. A government statement said that while Mr. Benitez Treviño did not play a role in the inspection that led to the closing, the case had damaged the image and prestige of the agency.
