Two men arrested after 'stolen' bike crash in Doagh, County Antrim

Two men have been arrested following a collision between a suspected stolen motorcycle and a car in County Antrim, that left a man seriously injured. The crash happened on the Longshot area of Doagh shortly before 04:30 BST. The injured man, who is in his 20s, was riding the motorcycle which is believed to have been stolen from the Station Road, Doagh on Saturday morning. The arrested men were stopped in a second car on the same road, which is also believed to have been stolen. The pair who were detained by police in the suspected car are both 19 and are understood to be companions of the injured man. The two 19-year-olds were travelling in Vauxhall Astra car which is believed to have been stolen during a creeper-style burglary in the Deerpark Road area of Belfast during the early hours of Saturday morning. Both men have been charged with three counts of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking causing injury and using a motor vehicle without insurance. One of the teenagers has also been charged with causing death or grievous bodily injury by careless driving and is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday. His co-accused is due to appear before the same court on 11 June. The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are described as serious. |
