A man is due to appear in court later charged with the murder of teenager Georgia Williams. A man charged with the murder of teenager Georgia Williams has been remanded in custody by magistrates.
Seventeen-year-old student Georgia, from Wellington, Shropshire, was last seen in the town on Sunday evening. Police have not confirmed if a girl's body found in woodland near Wrexham on Friday is that of the 17-year-old student from Wellington, Shropshire.
Jamie Reynolds, 22, also from the town, who was arrested in Glasgow on Tuesday, has been charged with murder and is due before Telford magistrates. Jamie Reynolds, 22, from Avondale Road, Wellington, appeared before Telford magistrates and is due at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday.
Police search teams found a girl's body in woodland near Wrexham on Friday. The girl has not been formally identified. Georgia was last seen in Wellington on Sunday evening.
The body was found at about 14:00 BST in woodland off the Nant-y-Garth pass in north Wales. Mr Reynolds, who is accused of murdering Georgia on the day she disappeared, did not speak during the five-minute hearing.
Supt Nav Malik, from West Mercia Police, said: "During our enquiries, sadly, late [Thursday] afternoon new evidence came to light that proved Georgia was deceased and that she died at an address in Wellington. Police search teams found a girl's body in woodland near Wrexham on Friday. No formal identification has been made.
"For obvious legal reasons, particularly to ensure that future court proceedings are not jeopardised, we are not able to reveal further information about this evidence at this time." 'Bubbly and lovely'
He said the discovery of a body related to their investigation into the teenager's disappearance. The discovery was made at about 14:00 BST off the Nant-y-Garth pass in north Wales.
Georgia is the daughter of a West Mercia Police detective constable. AFC Telford United said it was "devastated to hear the news regarding Georgia Williams who supported the club over a long period" and worked for the club as part of its match-day team.
Supt Malik added: "Georgia's family have been kept fully informed of all the recent developments and this has only added to the devastation they are feeling about this week's events. It has opened the New Bucks Head Stadium, where flowers have been left in a designated area.
"We are totally committed to every investigation we launch but dealing with events that directly affect a colleague and fellow member of the policing family - especially one that many of us know so well - is unusual and has proved extremely tough and emotional for everyone." Katy Lafferty, Georgia's best friend, has said her disappearance is "heart-breaking".
The 17-year-old praised the support that had been expressed by thousands of people via social media.
Liam Ball, who goes to New College in Telford, where Georgia attended lectures, has described his friend as "friendly, bubbly and lovely with a great sense of humour".
The 18-year-old, from Shifnal, said: "She is everything you could want in a friend."
