Firefighter Steve Bonsor said the dog was "fine".
"We spent about 45 minutes trying to entice the dog from side to side hoping we could get it to hit the central locking button again," he said.
"But when that didn't work and we noticed the animal was getting a bit dehydrated, we had to smash a rear quarter light window to reach in safely and lift the door lock.
"It was a happy ending."
