Thousands due at G8 events in Belfast and Fermanagh Anti-G8 protest rally under way in Belfast

Thousands of people are expected to attend events connected to the G8 summit in Northern Ireland on Saturday. An anti-G8 protest rally is under way in Belfast amid a major security presence.
Protest marches and concerts are due to take place in Belfast and Fermanagh. The police said about 1,000 people were taking part in the march, ahead of next week's summit in County Fermanagh.

The police estimate between 5,000 and 10,000 people could attend a protest on Saturday that aims to "to challenge the agenda of the G8 leaders". A number of concerts are also due to take place in Belfast and Fermanagh later on Saturday.
Organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the march will begin at 12:30 BST at Custom House Square in Belfast. The march left the city's Custom House square at about 12:30 BST, heading towards Belfast City Hall.
Participants will go along High Street, Bridge Street, Donegall Street, Royal Avenue and Donegall Place to arrive at the front of Belfast City Hall at about 13:00 BST. Hundreds of police officers flanked the route, scores of PSNI vehicles were also parked up and police helicopters circled overhead.
