John Bush, from Askern in the town, has also been charged with an offence of making off without payment, South Yorkshire Police said. The teenager, who cannot be named, went missing from her school in Doncaster last Monday and was found by police at Euston station in London on Friday.
He is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court later. John Bush, of Moss Road, Askern, Doncaster, was remanded in custody by town magistrates to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 1 July.
The teenage girl, who cannot be named, was found "safe and well" in London on Friday. He has also been charged with an offence of making off without payment.
She was spotted by a plain-clothes officer with British Transport Police after she went missing from her school a week ago.
