Version 0 of 1.

A quad bike rider has been rescued after falling about 40ft (12m) over cliffs on Anglesey.

The 40-year-old man was riding on the cliff top at Mackerel Rock, near Trearddur Bay, when he plunged over the edge with the vehicle on top of him.

He suffered a broken arm and leg and was rescued by a RAF Valley helicopter after a friend called emergency services at 12:10 BST on Saturday.

A Holyhead Coastguard spokesman said he was "a very lucky gentleman".

He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

North Wales ambulance service and police were also called to help in the rescue, which was co-ordinated by the coastguard.

It is understood the man hit a rocky outcrop while riding along the cliff top and fell after struggling to control his quad bike.
