Friends at Macmillan Academy said they were "devastated" at the attack, describing the 17-year-old as a "good lad, liked by everyone". Alison Guvenc, owns a club near to where the attack took place, said: "The problems are normally between the locals themselves rather than anything towards the tourists here on holiday.
"Very rarely do we hear of something of this magnitude happening, the occasional fight can go on between the tourists and the locals but it is very very rare.
"To be honest this news has shocked everyone, all of the locals are quite upset at the moment."
Friends at Macmillan Academy, where the the teenager was a student, said they were "devastated" at the attack, describing the 17-year-old as a "good lad, liked by everyone".
