A man has been charged with murder after a man died following an incident in a Wrexham town centre pub.

Craig Maddocks, 34, from Llay, was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called to the Cambrian Vaults on Wednesday.

In a statement, his parents, Edna and David, described him as a "wonderful son, father, brother and nephew".

North Wales Police said a 45-year-old local man would appear before magistrates in Mold on Saturday.

Mr Maddocks' family called him a "beam of light when you walked into a room, the life and soul of any situation".

They said he was a footballer and a top boxer who would not fight without gloves, "forever striving for fitness levels".

His brother Daniel said: "I will miss you bro, you were my twin and I was your shadow, love you millions. Miss you pal."

Police were called to an incident at the pub at Town Hill at 00:43 BST on Wednesday.

Anyone with information has been asked to call the major incident room on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
