A man appearing in court became stuck in a faulty set of handcuffs and had to be freed by firefighters.

It took 10 minutes to release the man on Friday after it was discovered the lock on the cuffs had broken.

The defendant was waiting in the custody suite at Bournemouth Crown Court at the time.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a crew had been called out to free the man. The crown court said it had been unaware of the mishap.
