The male driver, in his 20s, was taken to Ipswich Hospital. Police said no-one else was in the car at the time. | |

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "The train, which was travelling at about 45mph at the time of the collision, remained upright and on the tracks. | |
"An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed. | |
"The crossing at Saxmundham has no barriers, but has warning lights to inform train drivers and vehicle drivers when it is safe to proceed. | |
"Part of the ongoing investigation will be to establish whether all warning lights and functions at the crossing were fully operational." |
