Legal high warning after baby assault in Northumberland
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-23205309 Version 0 of 1. A teenage boy believed to have smoked a legal high has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a baby. Police said the 16-year-old was thought to have taken a substance called Salvia. The baby suffered minor injuries when it was grabbed from a buggy and thrown to the ground, in Woodhorn Crescent in Newbiggin, Northumberland. Another 16-year-old boy is in hospital after smoking the same substance, police said. The teenager collapsed but is in a stable condition. Superintendent Mick Paterson said: "Our advice is - just because it says 'legal' on the packet does not mean it is safe. These products are usually made from chemicals that can have a serious effect on your health. "People appear to be suffering some particularly nasty side effects to this substance, Salvia, and we are concerned that there appears to be a quantity of it circulating in the Ashington area at this time. "If you are in possession of this substance do not use it - and if you have taken it seek medical assistance at once." |
