University of East Anglia: Body found in Broad lake University of East Anglia: Woman's body found in lake
(35 minutes later)
A body has been found in a lake on the campus of the University of East Anglia (UEA). The body of a woman has been recovered from a lake at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.
Officers were called to the UEA site, on the outskirts of Norwich, at about 08:40 BST, police said. An angler saw the body floating face-down in the water and alerted the emergency services at about 08:40 BST, police said.
Emergency services are at the scene and the area has been sealed off while investigations continue. Officers remain on the campus to search the area, which remains cordoned off while investigations continue.
The lake, known as the UEA Broad, is on the southern side of the campus and the area is popular with dog walkers and runners. Initial inquiries have been carried out with the UEA. It is believed all students have been accounted for.
The university tweeted it was informed "that a body was reported in broad before 9.00am" and that it would be "fully supporting the police with their inquiries". Police said they are "unable to confirm the age of the woman at this time" and "inquiries to identify her are continuing".
The body was recovered from the water shortly before 09:30 BST.
The man-made lake, known as the UEA Broad, is at the southern-edge of the campus and is an area popular with dog walkers and joggers.
