The father of two young boys who were found dead in a car boot in County Mayo has been charged with their murders. A judge has ordered that a man charged with the murder of his two sons should undergo medical treatment.
The bodies of Eoghan Chada, 10, and his five-year-old brother, RuairĂ­, were discovered in the vehicle on Monday. Sanjeev Chada, 43, from Ballinkillen, County Carlow, was further remanded in custody when he appeared before a district court in County Roscommon.
Their father, Sanjeev Chada, was arrested and questioned about their deaths after he was found injured in the same car, which had crashed. The bodies of Eoghan Chada, 10, and his five-year-old brother, RuairĂ­, were discovered in a vehicle driven by their father in County Mayo on Monday.
The 43-year-old was charged at a special sitting of Swinford District Court, County Mayo, on Thursday night. Their father was charged with their murders on Thursday night.
A detective told the court he formally charged Mr Chada with both murders at Westport police station at 19:50 BST on Thursday.
The accused did not say anything during the proceedings.
A defence lawyer told the judge he had concerns for his client's welfare.
He also said Mr Chada had no income whatsoever and applied for legal aid.
The judge granted the request.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Friday morning.

A joint funeral for his two sons is set to take place on Ballinkillen, County Carlow, on Friday. On Friday, Mr Chada faced Harristown Court in Castlerea for a brief hearing, less than 14 hours after his first appearance at a special sitting of Swinford District Court, charged with the two murders.
Police applied for the accused to be remanded in custody for two weeks.
Mr Chada's solicitor told the judge he was concerned that his client should be looked after and inquired about the possibility of psychiatric help.
The judge directed appropriate medical treatment for Mr Chada, but not a psychiatric report.
Mr Chada is to appear at Harristown Court again on 16 August.
