Margate high-rise flats fire: Red Cross vehicle called

A fire has ripped through the ninth floor of a tower block in Margate, with firefighters joined by the Red Cross to help frightened residents.

The blaze erupted in the 15-storey block of flats in Millmead Road at about 20:00 BST.

A Red Cross vehicle was called to offer assistance to residents and fire crews donned breathing apparatus to search the building for casualties.

The blaze was put out by 21:25 BST and no-one is believed to have been hurt.

Ten fire engines and 60 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze.
