Connecticut plane crash: Four to six feared dead in East Haven Ex-Microsoft exec Bill Henningsgaard dies in plane crash
(about 13 hours later)
Four to six people are feared dead after a small plane crashed into homes in the US state of Connecticut, accident investigators say. A former director of technology firm Microsoft has died in a plane crash in the US, his family has confirmed.
The National Transportation Safety Board said there were casualty reports of two or three people in the aircraft and two or three on the ground. Bill Henningsgaard, 54, was on board his own plane with his 17-year-old son Maxwell when the plane came down near Connecticut's Tweed New Haven airport.
Two children, aged one and 13, are feared dead in a house that was hit. Mr Henningsgaard, a Microsoft marketing executive for 14 years, had been travelling to the East Coast to help his son to choose a college.
The plane took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and crashed near Connecticut's Tweed New Haven airport. The plane crashed into two homes, and two children are also feared dead.
Officials initially said three people were missing, including the pilot of the propeller plane. The two homes in the town of East Haven caught fire. One witness said a woman was screaming that her children were trapped inside one of them.

Two bodies have been spotted inside a home that the plane crashed into, East Haven Fire Chief Douglas Jackson said. Mr Henningsgaard worked at Microsoft from 1988 to 2002 before leaving the company to concentrate on philanthropy.
But the remains have not been removed yet as the property is unstable, he added. Social Venture Partners, a charitable foundation he helped to set up, paid tribute to him as someone who was "truly all-in for this community, heart, mind and soul".
"We haven't recovered anybody at this point and we presume there is going to be a very bad outcome," he said. The plane, a Rockwell International Turbo Commander 690B, crashed at about 11:25 local time (15:25 GMT) on Friday as it approached the airport in rainy weather, say officials.
