Checkpoint police shoot at lorry

An investigation has begun after police officers fired a number of shots in south Armagh, it has emerged.

The incident happened at about 1800 BST on Tuesday near Mullaghbawn.

It is understood PSNI officers said they fired three shots when the driver of a lorry carrying stones allegedly failed to stop at a checkpoint.

Police Ombudsman investigators have been examining the scene at Longfield Road. When officers fire shots, the Police Ombudsman must investigate.
