Irish police have released the name of a homeless man crushed to death after taking shelter in a bin in Limerick.

Detectives believe Kevin Fitzpatrick, originally from Derbyshire, was emptied alive into a waste truck and killed by a compactor during a trash collection.

Workers at a recycling depot outside the city sifting through waste found the 36-year-old's remains.

Police believe he had only come to the city at the weekend and had been sleeping rough.
