Man, 63, charged with 1980s rapes

A 63-year-old man has been charged with a series of rapes on women in Bristol more than 25 years ago.

He was arrested on Wednesday by officers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary's Cold Case Team.

The man is charged with raping a 17-year-old in Fishponds on New Year's Eve 1980 and two other women, aged 37 and 26, in January and June 1981.

He is due to appear before the city's magistrates on Friday. He also faces one charge of false imprisonment.
