Aberdeen-based CAN Group has won a £90m contract to provide inspection services in the North Sea for oil explorer and producer Talisman Sinopec Energy UK. Under the deal, CAN will cover the operator's 11 offshore installations and onshore terminal at Flotta, Orkney. Up to 120 offshore staff will carry out the inspection work. The contract involves non-destructive testing, quality assurance and quality control, as well as managing specialist sub-contractors. CAN has won a number of major contracts in the past year, worth a combined value of £44m, with companies such as Bluewater, Centrica and Total. Talisman Sinopec Energy UK is a joint venture between Canadian firm Talisman Energy and Addax Petroleum UK, a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group). It operates installations in established oil fields such as Claymore, Montrose and Fulmar. 'Long relationship' CAN Group operations director Adam Byrne said: "This contract builds on a long relationship which began with the company in 2001 and underscores CAN Group's capacity to offer clients a highly skilled and experienced team to support their operational delivery." In a separate development, Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has secured a contract extension worth more than £100m from Talisman Sinopec Energy UK. A further three years with a one-year extension option has been signed, making this the longest fixed-term contract to be secured by Bibby. As part of the agreement, Bibby will deliver construction and inspection, repair and maintenance works via its diving support vessel (DSV) Bibby Topaz. |
