Sussex Police said it followed an incident in the early hours in the rural area near Eastbourne. Det Sgt Dave Tye said police believed the man and woman were known to each other and no-one else was involved. Part of the park has been closed as well as the car park at Exceat, officers said. The man who died, who has not yet been identified, was also in his 70s, police said. Details of his injuries have not been disclosed. The Seven Sisters visitor centre and the car park at Litlington remain open. The country park, which is part of the South Downs National Park, includes 280 hectares of chalk cliffs, meandering river valley, and open chalk grassland. It is named after a sequence of seven peaks and dips that form part of the chalk coastal cliffs. Seven Sisters, which is managed by East Sussex County Council, is popular with walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists and canoeists. |
