Version 0 of 1.

A man in his 70s whose body was found on a path at Seven Sisters Country Park in East Sussex is believed to have been staying in Brighton, police said.

Ambulance crews found the body on the track leading to the sea and called police at 02.30 BST on Friday.

A woman in her 70s, thought to be known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police said it was believed the couple travelled to the Seven Sisters area by bus from Brighton.

Acting Det Chief Insp Jon Fanner said officers wanted to hear from anyone who was on the bus and saw an elderly couple get off.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the country park late on Thursday afternoon or evening and may have seen an elderly couple behaving unusually or what would appear to be out of character," he said.

"Until we speak to the next of kin we're unable to confirm the relationship between the two people we believe to be involved.

"We will also not speculate as to the circumstances of what happened."

It is hoped a post-mortem examination being carried out on Saturday will reveal the cause of death.

Seven Sisters Country Park said the riverside car park, south of the A259, will remain closed all day and possibly on Sunday while police continue their investigations.

The forest car park and visitor centre is open.
