A deputy speaker of Parliament has been charged with several counts of sexual assault as well as rape, the authorities said Tuesday. The Crown Prosecution Service said enough evidence had been gathered to prosecute the official, Nigel Evans, a member of Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservative Party, for eight offenses. Mr. Evans, 55, who was arrested twice earlier this year, has denied any wrongdoing. He was charged with two counts of indecent assault, five counts of sexual assault and one count of rape, the prosecution said. He is accused of assaults dating from 2002 to 2013 and involving seven male victims.
