More than 60 firefighters tackled the blaze at the De Vere University Arms Hotel near Parker's Piece and it was extinguished by 14:00 BST. | |
Regent Street, a major road in the city centre, and other neighbouring streets were closed and traffic diverted. | |

Crews from Suffolk and Hertfordshire helped Cambridgeshire firefighters to tackle the blaze, which was confined to the top floor of the hotel although it had spread to the roof. | |
About 150 guests were escorted out of the hotel soon after the flames were seen at about 06:00 BST. | |
A full investigation into the cause of the blaze is now under way, the fire service said. |
