(about 1 hour later)
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious object that has led to the closure of several miles of the M1 motorway. The M1 has re-opened but the slip roads at Stockmans Lane and Kennedy Way remain closed as police continue to deal with a security alert.
The M1 is closed in both directions between Lisburn, County Antrim, and Broadway in Belfast, causing major disruption for motorists. Stockmans Lane at its junction with the Boucher Road and Kennedy Way is also still closed.
The alert is centred around the Stockman's Lane roundabout. The alert began after a suspicious object was found at Kennedy Way on Saturday morning - Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion.
A diversion via Lisburn and Dunmurry is being set up for traffic travelling in both directions. Motorists faced major disruption as a result.
