Version 0 of 1.

A large bushfire has broken out near Lithgow in the New South Wales Blue Mountains and has been spreading through the Marrangaroo army range, with firefighters attacking the blaze with water bombing to avoid the “genuine risk” to unexploded ordnance.

A spokesman for the NSW rural fire service said there was no property at risk, and residents in the vicinity were advised to stay vigilant and monitor the situation.

The fire was said to be burning in a south-easterly direction towards State Mine Gully road, which was closed.

The spokesman said the fire was continuing to move and the expectation was that it would leave the army range in due course.

A watch-and-act alert was issued, with regular updates on the fire viewable on the NSW rural fire service’s website.
