Burst water main floods part of Edinburgh Supplies restored after burst water main flood in Edinburgh
(about 3 hours later)
A burst water main in Edinburgh has flooded streets and disrupted water supplies to parts of the city. Water supplies in an area of Edinburgh which were disrupted due to a burst main have returned to normal.
Scottish Water said that customers in the Colinton Road area may experience loss of water supply, low pressure, and discoloured water. Some customers in the Colinton Road area had experienced loss of supply or low pressure.
Colinton Road has been shut at Craiglockhart Avenue. Scottish Water engineers are on site to carry out repairs to the water main. The burst caused "severe flooding" and the road was closed at Craiglockhart Avenue while fire crews worked to divert the water.
"This burst has caused severe flooding of the road," a spokesman said. A Scottish Water spokeswoman said repair work was continuing on the water main.
Fire crews have also been on site to help divert the water and a spokeswoman said the flooding was subsiding. She added: "All customers who were experiencing low or no water pressure should now be back in supply.
"Flood water at the site of this morning's burst has been removed and all earlier road closures lifted.
"We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused."
