A "tornado" has hit Hayling Island in Hampshire, a council has said. About 100 homes have been damaged by a "tornado" on Hayling Island in Hampshire, police have said.

Hampshire Constabulary received calls regarding damaged vehicles, power lines, and beach huts.
Strong gusts
It said: "Police officers are on Hayling Island this morning following reports of disruption due to what is believed to have been a mini-tornado.
"We are working with our partner agencies including Hampshire Fire and Rescue and local councils to assist where necessary."
Ian Hoult, head of emergency planning at Hampshire County Council, said roofs had been damaged and trees uprooted.
"Fortunately we don't know of anyone being hurt, but it's an interesting situation for a Sunday morning," he said.
A Met Office spokesman said the incident had a "lot of ingredients that could suggest a small scale event like [a tornado] happened".
He added that the area had seen "intense and torrential" rainfall at the time, and gusts of wind reaching 41 knots, just below gale force.
