Bryte – Nadia Number: New music from Ghana
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/23/bryte-nadia-number-new-music-from-ghana Version 0 of 1. Crowd-funding for music startups has yet to prove its viability in Africa. Dutch crowd-funding evangelist Pim Betist found this out when, in 2009, he introduced the Africa Unsigned campaign, inviting pledges for new African music talent from across the continent and in the diaspora. The outcome was subdued and sent him back to the drawing board. Africa Unsigned has since relaunched with a more localized strategy, embarking on a talent search campaign in Ghana, and tapping irreverent Ghanaian underground music kings FOKN Bois as the face of the year-long campaign. The duo have now produced an EP for the contest winner, young Hiplife rapper Bryte. This is his first single and video. • More from AfriPOP! • SBPCh – Let Me Think: New music from Russia • Tove Lo – Out Of Mind: New music from Sweden Our editors' picks for the day's top news and commentary delivered to your inbox each morning. |
